Course Overview: What to Expect

Welcome to the Puerto Rican Spanish 101 Course!

This is a quick guide to the layout of the course and what to expect.

Course Format

The main course content is a series of dialogues spoken by native Spanish speakers from Puerto Rico.

Each dialogue is broken down into the following parts:

1) Regular conversational speed audio of the dialogue
2) Slow speed audio of the dialogue
3) Audio of the dialogue with English translation spoken after each line
4) List of Puerto Rican words used with definitions

Every dialogue introduces new vocabulary in a variety of situations.

You will also be able to download and review a full transcript of each dialogue in Spanish with the English translation.

By the end of the course, you will be able to grasp more and more Puerto Rican Spanish, and will improve your listening comprehension by leaps and bounds.

Course Schedule

The course is designed so that you can go through it at your own pace. We will also send you email notifications when new bonus content is available.

How to Review Each Dialogue

It’s recommended that you review the transcript with the translation and pay attention to any words you don’t know. You may want to review unfamiliar vocabulary a few times before listening to the dialogue.

Next, listen to the full speed dialogue several times to see how much you pick up.

Then, listen to the slow version of the audio without reading the transcript. See how much you understand on your own, then listen while reading along with the transcript. Repeat this until you understand at least 80% of the dialogue without reading.

Finally, listen to the full speed version the same way you did the slow speed. Once you comfortably understand 80% of the dialogue, move on. Remember, while you will want to understand the conversation your goal is not to memorize every word.

At the very end, listen to the dialogue again at full speed.

You will be surprised at how much more you understand after following this process.
